Are you a Spirit Led Person?

Is the Spirit leading you in your daily life? Yes, this is the Holy Spirit and is He leading you in your daily life? Many people in the religious world say yes to this question, but I wonder if they understand what it means to be led by the Spirit.  Do YOU know what it means to be led by the Spirit?

Romans 8:14, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” How are we lead by the Spirit?  How does the Holy Spirit lead us today? Before we explore the answer I want to quote a book that I have been reading, “Isn’t the religion of our Lord, given to the world through His inspired apostles and prophets, good enough? Isn’t it pure enough? Would we dare to offer an improvement on it?” (Undenominational Christianity by J. N. Armstrong. Copyright 2002 written in 1913 Page 21). There are some really good questions in that quote; they need to be taken seriously.  I think when we are answering the question about be led by the Spirit these questions in the quote will be answered as well.

If the religion of the Lord, as given by the apostles who were guided by the Holy Spirit where am I going to find out about that religion? If the religion of the Lord is pure enough then where am I going to find out about this religion? If this religion is so good that it does not improved upon, where am I going to find out about this wonderful religion?  It is in God’s Book. Given to us by men who were guided by the Spirit (John 14:26; 15:26; 16:13). Also if this religion, found in this book given to us by men who were guided by the Holy Spirit, is so pure and it cannot be improved upon who am I to tamper with this religion?

If we have this all contained in God’s Word why do I need to add to it? If I changed God’s Word in any way, wouldn’t that make it impure? If I changed the meaning of what God intended, wouldn’t that also make His Word impure?  Why do I need to tamper with His Word?  Why do I need anything else but this Word of God?

2 Peter 1:3 declares, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” If He has given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness then, please tell me what else do I need?  If I have in all written down for me in the pages of my Bible, what else do I need? If God inspired these men to say exactly what He wanted them to say, then how can I tamper with His Word?  How can I add to it or take from it? How could I then take what the Bible contains and say I need more? If it is pure enough and it is compete then I have, and we have all we need.

So if I am going to read His Word given by the Holy Spirit and if I am heeding what the Bible says, am I not being led by the Spirit? Listen again to a quote from this book, “To fail to follow this example of the early disciples is certainly to fail to follow the leadership of the Spirit of God, and to fail to follow the Spirit of God is to fail to be obedient children of God.  The only way for us to be faithful children of God is to follow explicitly the Holy Spirit; and to follow the Holy Spirit is to belong to no denomination, but to be disciples only, Christians, only, Saved and added to His church because we are saved.” (Ibid) That says it pretty plainly and correctly.

The Holy Spirit had recorded for us exactly what God wanted. If we follow those things that are contained in God’s Word we are God lead. We are Christ lead and we are Holy Spirit lead. The question of this article is, “Are you a Spirit lead person,” and this is exactly what we need to know. Are you doing what the Spirit said to do through God’s Word? If not you are not doing what God said, then why are you not doing it?  If it is compete and it is perfect then why are you not being lead by what this Word says for you to do? If we fail to do what the Spirit has told us to do we are in rebellion against God! Who wants to stand before God as a rebel against Him? There is no serious Bible student who wants to reject God and His word.

I believe that we need more Spirit lead people today! This is not as the religious world says it, but as the Bible says it. I believe we need more people willing to do what the Bible has said for them to do to be saved, to worship God and to remain saved!  By reading God’s Word all of your life you will be led by the Spirit all of your life. Start today to be a Spirit lead individual. If you are reading and heeding continue on being led by the Spirit.

Love, Keith
