Does Thinking A Thing To Be Right Make It Right?

There are many who really do think a thing is right because they think it is right. This can happen to many people in many different areas of life. A child can think a math problem is right but that does not make it right. Do you remember having to show your work to the teacher who then could show you exactly where you were wrong? Doctors have thought they were doing right when they removed a limb or preformed an operations, but that did not make it right. They had removed the wrong limp!...Continue reading

No Assembling Required

Over the years I have had many bulletins from different congregations from many different parts of our nation. A bulletin article crossed my desk with this title; so the title of this article is not original with me. OI have changes a few things within the article so, just trying to give credit where it is due.  This article has many interesting points that need to be pondered. Have you been to the store and was looking at something big that said assembly required? Or have you looked closer to see if the store would...Continue reading

Will God Make Exceptions On Judgment Day?

This statement, “There is an exception to every rule.” Is not found in the Bible. However, it is seemingly a statement of truth. Exceptions for rules is a practice for which we have become accustom in our society. People expect exception to rules to be made on their behalf. The speed limit on most interstates is 70 miles per hour except for most people driving on them. That is only the speed limit for the few people who are pulled over for speeding. On judgment day many will want God to make exceptions to His...Continue reading

Every Member Matters!

In the twelfth chapter of the book of 1 Corinthians one finds the church compared to the physical body. Within that chapter one will find the foot, the hand, the ear, the eye all mentioned. The Holy Spirit through Paul states that all of these are necessary. What if the body were made up of a foot? What if the entire body were a hand, or an ear, or an eye? How would such a body function? Each and every part of the physical body is important, and each member of the church, the Lord’s...Continue reading

Who is the Devil?

Could the devil be a fallen angel? “For God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment” (2 Peter 2:4). I could be that pride was the sin that caused this fall. Listen, “Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil” (1 Timothy 3:6). Could the devil be the serpent? “Not the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he...

Happy Father’s Day

This is the day we set aside to give honor to our fathers.  Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”  To honor fathers is right and good.  There are three fathers that we need to consider this very day. First there is God the Father.  Jesus called Him Father.  When Jesus was preaching the Sermon on the Mount there is a section on prayer.  He said, “… Our Father…” (Matthew 6:9).  He also used this same phrase when His disciples came to Him and asked...

How Did that Get into the Church?

In 1871, an American named Heinrich Schlemann began excavating an ancient city in Turkey. To the amazement of many, this retired businessman had discovered the lost city of Troy. Today, you can still see the ruins of its towers and its walls, which were 16 feet think. According to Homer’s Illiad, the Greeks besieged Troy for ten years without success. After the death of the warrior Achilles, many wanted to give up the fight. But the king of Ithaca, Odysseus, came up with a plan to get the Greek army into Troy. Idysseus built an...Continue reading

Bible Classes

Bible classes are very important. Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Do we want God to forget our children? Do we want to be destroyed? Do we want to be rejected from being a priest to and for God? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then there is no need to study God’s Word....Continue reading

Memorial Day

Monday is Memorial Day. We are to be thankful to those who have served in the military, who have died. Some died in service while some have died since serving. My father and father-in-law both served during World War 2. I have an uncle who served during Korea. Several of you have served in Viet Nam. We have statues that are scattered throughout our country that honors those who have served. This article will be about memorials. In Exodus 12 God set up a memorial for the children of Israel. It is called the Passover....

Another Step

We have one high school graduate. As a person graduates from one level to the next we often say these graduates are taking a new step in their life. It is so true that new adventures are opening up for each student. Some steps are bigger than others, but they are steps along the pathway of life. The Bible talks of a pathway of life, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat; because...Continue reading
