Galatians 5:1 states: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Paul is dealing with a problem the church was having during the first century, but he speaks of liberty and bondage. This subject is one that ought to be of utmost importance to us today also. During the first century there were those who were trying to bind the Old Testament upon those striving to become Christians. The battle (Luke by inspiration uses the terms, “dissension” and “disputation” in Acts...Continue reading

Every Member Matters!
In the twelfth chapter of the book of 1 Corinthians one finds the church compared to the physical body. Within that chapter one will find the foot, the hand, the ear, the eye all mentioned. The Holy Spirit through Paul states that all of these are necessary. What if the body were made up of a foot? What if the entire body were a hand, or an ear, or an eye? How would such a body function? Each and every part of the physical body is important, and each member of the church, the Lord’s...Continue reading
Father’s Day
Father’s Day may conjure up many emotional memories about our fathers. Some of them may be positive and some may be negative. Fathers can do that, while when we think of Mothers our emotions are mostly positive. When we think of father’s we think of them as the hard disciplinarian of the family. When we think of our mothers, she is the one we ran to when daddy got through with us! Yet there are loving memories of our father. Let us consider some memories that cause these loving thoughts. As we think of our...Continue reading
Benefits for Non-citizens?
In the news, we have been hearing a lot about those who are in this country illegally. There is also talk of having them become citizens by a faster and easier means than others have obtained citizenship into this country. You might have your own thoughts about these matters and they might be right or wrong. We also hear many who are stating there is a lot wrong with our country. With all the problems, why are there people try and striving to come into this country? Why do those who think that Americans are...Continue reading
Memorial Day
This past week Memorial Day was celebrated. It was a time to remember those who had sacrificed for our freedom. We must continue to remember that the freedoms that we enjoy are not free. They cost us something. It has cost some life, other liberty, and others their freedom. We need to remember these brave individuals for without them we would not have the freedoms that we enjoy today. Romans 12:7 reads, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom...Continue reading
Pollutions
Peter said, “”For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning” (2 Peter 2:20). Over the last several years we in America have been great concerned about pollution. We are concerned about the pollution that is in the air. We are concerned about the pollution in the water. We are concerned about the pollution upon our land. We ought to be concerned about these things for if...
Are You a Friend?
John 15:14-19 reads, “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth; but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These...Continue reading
Mothers
“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:7-8). “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-3). There is a place of honor given to certain individuals, the...Continue reading
Was Jesus Sinless?
The Bible says, “for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Again the Bible says, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow in this steps: Who did no sin neither was guile found in him mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously”...Continue reading
Lessons from the Past
God set a law into effect at the beginning of time. Paul states it as such: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:7-9). Let us remember that we will harvest what we have sown. There are...Continue reading
