Was Jesus Sinless?

The Bible says, “for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Again the Bible says, “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow in this steps: Who did no sin neither was guile found in him mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously”...Continue reading

Lessons from the Past

God set a law into effect at the beginning of time. Paul states it as such: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:7-9). Let us remember that we will harvest what we have sown. There are...Continue reading

Don’t Stay Away from Church…

Because you are poor. There is no admission charge. Because you are rich. Money is not everything. Because it rains. You go to work in the rain. Because it is cold. It is warm and friendly inside. Because it is hot. So are fishing and golfing, especially gardening! Because no one invited you. People go to a lot of places uninvited, and even pay to get in. This is your paper invitation. Because of hypocrites. We associate with them in the world every day. You have a choice, associate with them in the church now...Continue reading

Compromise

The ease of compromise is real. When faced with a situation in which a choice has to be made, it is easy to compromise what we believe and teach.  The Bible tells us “choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Joshua 24:15). They had a choice to make between the God of heaven who had supplied them with the defeat of all their enemies, or they could chose between the god of the people whom they had destroyed. Today we have the same choices. Jesus said, “No man can serve two masters: for either...Continue reading

Clean vs. Unclean

In the Old Testament we find what God calls clean and unclean. Sometimes this refers to animals. The earliest we find this is in Genesis 7. Noah is told by God “Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the make and his female: and of beast that are not clean by two, the male and his female.” Later on we are told in Leviticus 11 what animals are clean and unclean. Sometimes “clean and unclean” would refer to clothes (Leviticus 14), houses (Leviticus 14) and even man (Leviticus 15). Nowhere in...

Watch

When you see a STOP sign do you remember what one is to do beside stop the vehicle that you are in? Remember that you are not only to stop, but one is to look and listen. It is a warning sign of danger. We are to be ever watchful of the danger that is on the road. Likewise the Bible does the same for us. In the Old Testament there is the watchman. This is an individual that was appointed to be on the walls of the city and watch. He was to watch...Continue reading

Charge!

When we first hear this word there may be different mental pictures develop within our mind. Paul uses this word with Timothy a number of times. There are different Greek words Paul uses that are translated “charge” in our New Testament but they have basically the same meaning. The meaning is “command.” Now go back to our pictures developed in our minds, with this meaning. A man might think of the command to charge an enemy. A woman might think of a plastic card with items to purchase. It is still a command! With this...Continue reading

Flu Shot

This is the time of year when many get their flu shot. The doctors warn many whose health is questionable to partake of this shot every year. There are those that are young who need it. There are those who are middle aged who need it. And there are those who are more mature who are to get this shot. It will do well to take this shot so that one will not get the flu. Likewise there is a flu shot for apostasy. Listen to what Paul discusses with Timothy, “If thou put the...Continue reading

Majority Rule?

The Bible says, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment” (Exodus 23:2). When the children of Israel were coming to the borders of the Land that flowed with milk and honey they sent out twelve spies. In Numbers 13 we find all twelve spies listed. Out of that number how many do you remember? Moses gave them a charge of what they were to spy out within the land. “And Moses sent them to spy out the land of...

Gospel Demands

Titus 2:11-14, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” Within this passage there are some things that we are to deny ourselves. They are ungodliness and worldly lust....Continue reading
